Senator Ruth Hassell-Thompson is pleased to announce that certain Department of Motor Vehicle locations will soon have extended business hours and some branch locations will be open on Saturdays.
“It can be very difficult for many New Yorkers to get to the DMV during their work week,” Senator Hassell-Thompson stated. “By allowing certain DMV locations to extend hours or open on Saturdays, many people will be able to receive the vital assistance and services the Department provides.”
With respect to the Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program (CHIPS), the budget provides over $160 million to the City of New York and over $1.3 million to the City of Mount Vernon. “In order for residents to remain safe and our economy to grow, it is absolutely necessary that New York State’s roads and bridges are held to the highest standard and this funding, spread across two years, will help jumpstart that process,” Senator Hassell-Thompson concluded.
The inclusion of this legislation in the adopted budget will streamline DMV operations and improve transportation.
