SEN. GIPSON’S STATEMENT ON MAJORITY COALITION VOTING DOWN CAMPAIGN FINANCE REFORM
ALBANY, NY -- Senator Terry Gipson (D-Dutchess, Putnam) issued the following statement today after the Senate Majority Coalition voted against legislation to end the status quo in Albany and achieve real campaign finance reform.
“I am very disappointed that the Majority Coalition has voted down much needed campaign finance reform legislation when it came time to do the right thing. Campaign finance reform and earning the public trust is not a partisan issue — it is a moral one.”
Adding salt to our wounded system in Albany, the Majority Coalition has failed to take serious action on a single piece of campaign finance or ethics reform as session comes to an end. This includes my legislation that will stop politicians from using their campaign funds as a personal ATM and to pay for defense attorneys. As an Albany outsider, I will continue to fight for common sense reform in Albany and will work with anyone, regardless of their party, to get it done.”
