SENATOR TERRY GIPSON ANNOUNCES LOCAL VETERANS TO BE HONORED
AT VETERANS & FAMILIES FAIR
POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – New York State Senator Terry Gipson (D-Dutchess, Putnam) has announced the names of the local veterans who will be honored in the first annual 41st Senate District Veterans’ Hall of Fame during the Veterans & Families Fair on September 28, 2013. It will be held at the Ramada Inn on Route 9 in Fishkill from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. The veterans were nominated by their local veterans organizations for the work they do supporting their fellow veterans and community. In addition to the 41st District’s Veterans Hall of Fame, all World War II veterans in attendance will be recognized.
“It is a privilege to represent a district with such a great tradition of service,” said Senator Gipson. “Every veteran deserves recognition for their service to our great nation, and it is an honor to recognize these local veterans who have gone above and beyond to continue their service in our communities.”
Senator Gipson’s Veterans and Families Fair will feature over 60 service providers and vendors that offer services such as healthcare, housing, employment, education, business support and much more, specifically for veterans and their families in Dutchess and Putnam Counties. It was made possible by the support of Central Hudson Gas and Electric Corporation, Health Quest, Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union and Bridgeway Federal Credit Union.
Senator Gipson recently formed the 41st Senate District’s Veteran’s Advisory Committee to hear and best address the concerns of veterans and their families in our community. Hearing of the lack of access to comprehensive veteran services, Senator Gipson was inspired to organize the Veterans and Families Fair.
Added Senator Gipson: “We owe our veterans and their families a great deal for their sacrifices. As a member of the New York State Senate Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs Committee, ensuring that they receive the support they deserve from New York State is a top priority of mine. I hope all of our veterans and their families in Dutchess and Putnam Counties will attend this exciting event to get the support and recognition they deserve.”
