Ithaca, N.Y.— State Senator Tom O’Mara (R,C-Big Flats) today reminded Ithaca-area residents that he’s hosting a free electronics recycling event, in partnership with Time Warner Cable and Sunnking Electronics Recycling, on Saturday, November 16, 2013.
The event is scheduled to run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Ithaca High School, 1401 N. Cayuga Street in Ithaca.
Area residents can drop off old or unused electronics at no charge. There is no limit on the number of items that can be dropped off.
O’Mara said that a portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit Hospicare & Palliative Care Services of Tompkins County.
“I hope that as many area residents and businesses as possible will take advantage of this free recycling event to conveniently, safely and responsibly discard old electronics. Recycling computer monitors, laptops, televisions, cell phones and so much more keeps these items out of landfills and lightens our impact on the environment,” O’Mara said. “I’m also grateful to have the opportunity with this event to help support Hospicare & Palliative Care Services of Tompkins County, an amazing regional health care group supporting terminally ill patients and their families.”
Items that can be accepted include computers (desktops and laptops), printers, scanners, copiers, fax machines, video game consoles, televisions (CRT, LCD, LED, plasma), cell phones, IT and networking equipment, monitors (CRT, LCD, LED), MP3 players, tablets, and ink and toner cartridges, among many others.
Items that can’t be accepted are CRT (cathode ray tube) tv’s and monitors containing broken glass or missing the outer casings.
Visit sunnking.com for a full list of acceptable and non-acceptable items.
