Awarded the National Medal of Civic Honor from the National Conference of State Legislatures
Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) was honored by the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) Monday, August 12, 2013, at their annual Legislative Summit in Atlanta, Georgia. Senator Larkin was one of six World War II veteran lawmakers honored for their service and dedication to our country and who are actively serving in their state legislatures.
Senator Larkin said: “It is a privilege and an honor to receive this award along with my fellow World War II veterans. Service has always been a priority for me, whether it was while I was in the Army or serving in the New York State Legislature, and I have always taken these commitments very seriously. I appreciate the National Conference of State Legislatures for honoring my fellow veterans and I hope military men and women will continue to serve in their state legislatures and make the needs of the military and our veterans heard throughout the country.”
Along with Senator Larkin, the following World War II veterans were honored:
• Virginia Senator Charles Joseph Colgan, Sr.
• Idaho Representative Frank Henderson
• New Mexico Senator John Pinto
• Wisconsin Senator Fred Risser
• Georgia Representative John Yates
