Renate DeAngelis Selected as 2013 "Woman of Distinction"
Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) today honored Renate DeAngelis at a special ceremony held in Albany as one of the New York State Senate's 2013 "Women of Distinction."
“I can think of no one more deserving of this award then Renate DeAngelis,” said Senator Bill Larkin. “Renate’s dedication, caring and service to our veterans, their families and her community are an inspiration to everyone. Hr work with Rolling Thunder as well as her volunteer work at Castle Point has provided comfort and compassion to countless veterans and their families when they have needed it the most. I want to thank Renate for all she has done for our veterans and everyone in the Hudson Valley. She is an inspiration to all of us.”
Mrs. DeAngelis is currently the President of the American Gold Star Mothers Inc., Hudson Valley Chapter #31 and is very active with the American Gold Star Mothers Department of New York. As a Gold Star Mother, she has been made an honorary member of Rolling Thunder, New York 3, an organization dedicated to POW/MIA issues. In early 2013, Renate received the President’s Award from Rolling Thunder 3 for her volunteer service and five years ago, she received the President’s Volunteer Service Award from President George W. Bush.
The "Women of Distinction" program was created by the Senate to honor outstanding women whose contributions have enriched the quality of life in their communities. The program is in its 16th year.
