Albany, NY - State Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins of Yonkers was re-elected as the Leader of the Senate Democratic Conference in Albany on Tuesday.
“I am honored and humbled to be re-elected by my Democratic Senate colleagues, and I thank them for their continued trust and support,” said Senate Democratic Conference Leader Stewart-Cousins. “As the Senate Minority Leader in 2015, I look forward to working with my colleagues in the State Senate, as well as the State Assembly and Governor Cuomo.”
Democratic Conference Leader Stewart-Cousins continues in her history-making leadership role. She became the first female leader of a legislative conference in New York State history in 2012 when her colleagues first elected her Leader of the Senate Democratic Conference.
When the New York State Legislature begins a new session on January 8, 2015, Senator Stewart-Cousins will serve as the Senate Minority Leader. Taking their seats as new members of the Senate Democratic Conference in 2015 will be Senators Leroy Comrie (District 14), Jesse Hamilton (District 8), and Marc Panepinto (District 60).
Senator Stewart-Cousins, a Yonkers resident, was first elected to the State Senate in 2006 and represents Greenburgh and Scarsdale, and part of Yonkers, White Plains, and New Rochelle in the 35th State Senate District.
