Statement From Senate Democratic Conference Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins on Governor Cuomo’s Budget Address

“For too long our middle class has been stifled by crushing property taxes, and the Senate Democratic Conference will work with the Governor to achieve greater tax fairness while ensuring state government provides increased and expanded education and health care services. Last year, my conference advanced a common sense ethics reform package which included public financing of elections, and I look forward to working with Governor Cuomo to achieve these goals. New Yorkers deserve a government worthy of their trust, and passing a fiscally sensible budget that includes important reforms is an excellent first step.”
