Lower Taxes and More Jobs on Tap for 2014 Session
Andrew J Lanza
January 8, 2014
Governor Andrew Cuomo has just delivered his State of the State Message, helping to mark the official opening of the 2014 Legislative Session.
Senator Andrew Lanza will be working hard to ensure that the 2014 Session is a successful and productive one -- delivering real accomplishments that matter most for hardworking taxpayers across New York.
Working in a historic bipartisan fashion has put New York on a better and more prosperous path forward. Three consecutive early budgets put the dysfunction of the past in our rearview mirror.
Like many families, New York has tightened their belts to deal with new economic realities. The Legislature has returned money to taxpayers by reducing income tax rates and enacting a property tax cap. And, they’ve begun the hard work of rebuilding the State’s economy.
But despite this shared progress, there’s more to be done.
Senator Lanza will be supporting measures that will help make living in New York more affordable by reducing property taxes and making the middle-class tax cuts that he approved last year permanent.
Lanza also agrees that we need to do more to create jobs and new opportunities in New York State. It’s no secret that businesses locate and grow where they have the best opportunity to succeed. He agreeds that New York needs to stop overtaxing and overregulating businesses and start working with them to create jobs and opportunity.
Senator Lanza is looking forward to enacting a fourth consecutive early budget that controls spending and invests in the future while keeping the focus on his long standing priorities -- cutting taxes, creating new jobs and balancing our budget for the future.
