The State Senate today approved legislation that authorizes out-of-state health care professionals to provide services for athletes competing in the Lake Placid Ironman event.
Sponsored by Senator Betty Little, the bill would allow licensed professionals, such as massage therapists, physical therapists, chiropractors and podiatrists, from other states and territories to provide services to competitors from July 23 through July 28, 2014. The health care professionals must be in good standing and be appointed by the World Triathlon Corporation.
The legislation is pending consideration in the Assembly where it is sponsored by Assemblyman Dan Stec.
The Ironman Lake Placid is scheduled for Sunday, July 27, 2014.
