NYACK- Senator Carlucci (D-Rockland/Westchester) visited residents of Nyack Plaza to announce new mailboxes have been ordered for the complex this week. For months residents had to walk to the local post office to pick up their mail because the postal service would not deliver mail to the broken mailboxes due to security reasons.
The mailboxes were broken months ago due to an act of vandalism. The new boxes will allow USPS to deliver mail directly to the residents and will be installed in the next two weeks.
Senator David Carlucci learned of the sitatuion on a recent visit with Nyack Plaza Residents.
Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Westchester) said, "It's hard to believe residents here have not been able to get their mail delivered for several months. We're here today to show that we are going to be watching to make sure this problem gets fixed as soon as possible. No resident, especially our seniors, should have to deal with the inconvenience of not receiving their mail in a timely manner."
Resident Joann Saunders said, "I want to thank Senator Carlucci for getting involved in this situation. After weeks of trying to get this situation resolved, it seemed like there was no solution in sight. Working together with Seator Carlucci we have shown that we can get real results for the tenants living here in Nyack Plaza."
