Senator Farley Salutes Neil Golub

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I – Schenectady) had the pleasure of presenting President and Chief Executive Officer of the Golub Corporation and Price Chopper Supermarkets Neil Golub with a New York State Senate Resolution on April 23rd. The resolution honored Mr. Golub for recently receiving the Sidney R. Rabb Award from the Food Marketing Institute.

Senator Farley was proud to present the resolution to the Schenectady County resident and commended him for his role in the community.

In 2006, Mr. Golub was awarded the New York State Liberty Medal upon the recommendation of Senator Farley for his life’s work as a leading businessman, community leader, and philanthropist.

Price Chopper operates over 130 stores in upstate New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire.

The resolution reads:

WHEREAS, The State of New York takes great pride in acknowledging the outstanding achievements of its esteemed residents; and

WHEREAS, Neil Golub was honored by the Food Marketing Institute with the Sidney R. Rabb Award, its highest honor, during its executive conference in Phoenix, Arizona on January 11, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Neil is a graduate of the University of Michigan and Michigan State University; he also earned a Master’s Degree from Cornel University and an honorary doctorate for Public Service from Russell Sage College; and

WHEREAS, He currently serves as Executive Chairman of Price Chopper Supermarkets; and

WHEREAS, Neil is being recognized for his extraordinary efforts in revitalizing downtown Schenectady; and

WHEREAS, His selection of downtown Schenectady for Price Chopper’s new multi-million dollar headquarters was a tremendous contribution to economic development in the city; the building is Gold-certified by the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program and is built on a brownfield site; and

WHEREAS, Neil was also instrumental in the development of Schenectady 2000 and the creation of the Schenectady County Metroplex Development Authority, which has generated more than $700 million in new private and public investment and a major upgrade to downtown Schenectady; and

WHEREAS, He is also being recognized for the philanthropic work he does with his wife, Jane; they have tirelessly contributed their time and generously contributed to numerous organizations, including the Anti-Defamation League, United Way, Special Olympics, Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Double H Ranch, and the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Association telethon; and

WHEREAS, Neil and his loving wife, Jane, are the proud parents of Mona Golub; and

WHEREAS, He has also been blessed with one grandson, Ira; and

WHEREAS, Neil has exhibited the true spirit of this prestigious award through his tireless dedication and valuable contributions to the community

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to honor Neil Golub upon receiving the Sidney R. Rabb Award from the Food Marketing Institute.
