To help combat the growing epidemic of prescription drug abuse and heroin, Senator Jack M. Martins (R-7th Senate District), County Executive Ed Mangano, and Legislators Rose Walker and Laura Schaefer will be sponsoring a free Narcan training seminar for residents. The program will take place on Thursday, June 5th from 7 pm- 9 pm at the Hicksville Community Center (28 West Carl Street, Hicksville).
The program will teach residents what to do in the event that someone overdoses on Oxycodone, Hyrdrocodone, and Heroin. Residents will learn how to administer a lifesaving antidote that can reverse the fatal effects of an Opioid overdose called Narcan, which is administered through a simple nasal spray. Participants over the age of 18 will receive a free nasal Narcan kit at the event.
Residents wishing to attend the free Narcan training seminar at the Hicksville Community Center on June 5th should contact Eden Laikin of County Executive Mangano’s Office at 516-571-6105 or by email at elaikin@nassaucountyny.gov.
