To help combat the growing epidemic on prescription drug abuse and heroin, Senator Jack M. Martins (R-Mineola) and County Executive Ed Mangano will be sponsoring a free Narcan training seminar for residents. The program will take place on Thursday, July 17th from 7 pm- 9 pm at the Elmont Fire Department (95 Lehrer Avenue, Elmont).
The program will teach residents what to do in the event that someone overdoses on Oxycodone, Hyrdrocodone, and Heroin. Residents will learn how to administer a lifesaving antidote called Narcan, which is administered through a simple nasal spray, that can reverse the fatal effects of an Opioid overdose. Participants over the age of 18 will receive a free nasal Narcan kit at the event.
Residents wishing to attend the free Narcan training seminar at the Elmont Fire Department on July 17th should contact Eden Laikin of County Executive Mangano’s Office at 516-571-6105 or by email at elaikin@nassaucountyny.gov.
