Senator Jack M. Martins was recently in Albany for the start of the 2014 Legislative Session, which kicked off with the Governor's State of the State Address. After the address, the Senator stated:
“There is no question that over the last three years, we have made a big turnaround from years of dysfunction that have plagued New York State. Working together with the Governor, we ushered in a new era of fiscal responsibility by enacting a spending cap, a property tax cap, and passing three-consecutive, balanced budgets that were on-time because we put politics aside and worked together.
There still remain great challenges for our state. We have begun to build our economy, but we must build on the foundation by continuing to create jobs and exploring ways to ease the tax burden on our residents and businesses. I look forward to working together with my colleagues and the Governor to pass a fourth consecutive, fiscally responsible state budget that provides for our school districts, passing our women’s equality initiative and providing incentives so that our hardworking families and business owners can remain in the communities that they have built.”
