Senator Jack M. Martins (R-7th Senate District) recently took the Virtual Dementia Tour to help raise awareness about Alzheimer’s disease. Senator Martins joined Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano, Alzheimer’s Foundation of America CEO Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr., and others in taking the tour.
The Virtual Dementia Tour simulates Alzheimer's disease using props and circumstances to alter participants' physical and sensory abilities. They are then placed in a “normal living situation” and asked to perform simple tasks. The tour is designed to raise awareness about Alzheimer's disease, the challenges patients and caregivers face, and the need to find a cure. The tour was sponsored by Second Wind Dreams and the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
