Senator Martins to Hold “How to Protect Your Child” Workshop for Parents of Children WITH Special Needs

Senator Jack M. Martins (R-7th Senate District) will be holding a free workshop to help parents who have children with special needs. The “How to Protect Your Child Legally and Financially” workshop will take place on Monday, October 27th at 7 pm at the Hicksville Library (169 Jerusalem Avenue, Hicksville).
The event will feature a presentation by Andrew Coen, Esq. and Mitch Weisbrot, CLU, ChSNC, both of whom are fathers of children with disabilities, to inform parents about the legal and financial preparations crucial to safeguarding assets and benefits for their special needs children.
Topics of discussion will include:
• Government benefits for individuals with disabilities
• Establishing guardianship
• Estate planning and wills
• Special needs trusts- how they work and why they’re useful
• Strategies for funding trusts
The workshop is open to all. No appointments are required.
