ONEONTA, 04/23/14 -- State Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I – Oneonta) today encouraged area job seekers to attend the upcoming Nano Utica Job Fair to be held April 29 in Utica.
“Residents from Herkimer County, northern Otsego County and beyond, who live in close proximity to Utica should take advantage of this opportunity to get in on the ground floor of an exciting new venture,” said Senator Seward. “Nano Utica is set to transform our state’s economy and will help position New York as a new high-tech hotbed.”
The job fair is being hosted by the governor’s office, the New York State Department of Labor, the SUNY College of Nanoscale Science & Engineering (CNSE), and SUNYIT. Between 300 and 1,500 job openings with annual salaries ranging from $35,000 to over $100,000 are expected at the Computer Chip Commercialization Center (Quad-C).
Engineers, technicians, process operators, facilities operations technicians, and environmental health and safety officers are among the positions to be filled. In addition, candidates are being sought for information technology, business operations, administrative, security, and cleaning and maintenance positions.
SUNYIT is the site of Quad C, a $125 million, 250,000 square foot technology complex which will house a consortium of leading global technology companies.
“The Mohawk Valley is ripe for economic expansion and the skilled, dedicated workforce is one of the prime reasons. This new nanotechnology hub is only the beginning,” Seward added.
The Nano Utica Job Fair will take place from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29 at the SUNYIT Field House in Utica. For more information and to pre-register, visit www.sunycnse.com/jobfair.aspx.
