BRONX, NY - With Thanksgiving just around the corner, State Senator Jeff Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester) today announced the donation of more than 100 turkeys to numerous organizations, local groups and residents across the 34th Senate District. On Monday he visited grandmothers planning Thanksgiving meals at the Pelham Parkway Houses, which is home to some 2,500 children and families. The donation was made in conjunction with the Naturally Occurring Retirement Community (NORC) Program.
“Thanksgiving reminds us that there is no better time than the present to give back to those in need, to count our blessings and be grateful for the friends and family we hold dear,” said Senator Jeff Klein. “As the cost of living continues to rise, I am thrilled to be able to donate these turkeys to residents throughout the 34th Senate District and wish everyone a happy, healthy, and delicious Thanksgiving.”
In addition, Senator Klein will host a turkey raffle at the Sack Wern Houses Residents Council Meeting Tuesday evening. Senator Klein’s office also distributed turkeys at the Throggs Neck Houses, Bronx Career and College Preparatory High School, AARP, Northeast Bronx Senior Center, Glebe Senior Center and the AME Bright Temple Church.
This marks the 16th consecutive year Senator Klein has donated Thanksgiving turkeys to Bronx residents.
