PELHAM, NY - State Senator Jeff Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester) joined Pelham Village Trustee, Susan Mutti, Pelham Chamber of Commerce President, Sandy Waibel and Pelham Junior League President, Nancy Hawkins at the Chamber of Commerce Street Fair on Saturday to champion the continued effort to improve Wolfs Lane Park. Last year, Senator Klein announced a $646,271 capital grant he secured for improvements to Wolfs Lane Park.
With approximately 15 businesses closing in downtown Pelham in the last three years, Pelham’s Junior League have launched a push for park improvements as a way of drawing more Pelham residents and visitors to Pelham’s downtown area, which would help benefit local businesses.
Senator Klein said, “Downtown Pelham has long been the hub of our community, with great restaurants, shops and local businesses. By making long-awaited improvements to Wolfs Lane Park we can truly make downtown a destination for all ages and make Pelham a place of beauty, recreation and community building for many years to come. With the funding I secured, Wolfs Lane Park can be the anchor for Pelham’s commercial area and help not only bring new businesses to this community, but also keep them here.”
Pelham Chamber of Commerce President, Sandy Waibel said, “With small businesses at the heart of our local economy, it is critical that we do everything possible to attract local residents and visitors to our downtown area. Thanks to Senator Klein, we have the funding to make critical improvements to Wolfs Lane Park, something that will only help our local merchants increase foot traffic and revitalize the downtown economy. I am proud to join the Junior League, local elected officials and Senator Klein in working together to build a better, cleaner and more prosperous Pelham.”
