BRONX, NY – Senator Jeff Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester) announced that he has secured $1.5 million in state funding that will go towards the construction of a new baseball field at the Throgs Neck Houses. Klein delivered the exciting news to those in attendance at the Throgs Neck Resident Council meeting which took place Thursday evening at the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club in the Bronx. The funding, which has been appropriated to the New York City Housing Authority, will enable residents of the housing complex to enjoy new recreational and athletic activities in their own backyard.
“This investment is a true ‘Home Run’,” said Senator Klein. “Every child deserves the opportunity to have access to athletic programs and facilities where they live. I am pleased that Throgs Neck Houses will finally be able to take advantage of a new state-of-the-art ball field, and I’m glad the state was able to play an enormous role in seeing this through. I look forward to the coming day when we throw out the first pitch.”
"This truly is a field of dreams for our youth in the Throgs Neck Houses. Thanks to Senator Klein our children will take to the diamond right at home. We appreciate his ongoing commitment to our residents,” said Monique Johnson, President, Throgs Neck Resident Council.
