Monies to go towards creating additional public parking in business district
Senator John Bonacic (R/C/I – Mt. Hope) announces that the City of Middletown has been awarded $100,000 in funding from the State & Municipal Facilities Capital Program.
The funding will go towards purchasing a vacant property and create a ecologically sound, well-lit parking area which will preserve and add green space to the downtown area.
“The city is looking to acquire a property that was been vacant for two decades,” said Middletown Mayor Joe DeStefano. “We would like to create the City North Car Park, so that residents, customers and employees will have adequate parking. This project will also enhance the historic and aesthetic qualities of the downtown. We are very grateful for the Senator for this funding.”
“I am pleased to secure this funding for the City of Middletown,” said Senator Bonacic. “The city has such a busy and vibrant downtown area, that this idea of creating a welcoming and attractive car park is always a terrific addition to any municipality.”
