Senator Bonacic (R/C/I- Mt. Hope) is pleased to announce that the New York State 2014 – 2015 budget agreement includes $40 million in funding to help fix the many potholes that are left after a rough winter throughout New York.
The increase in aid for pothole repairs is among several boosts in money for road repairs, particularly upstate. Local municipalities have raised concerns that the pothole problem would put stress on their budgets.
“This brutal winter has resulted in more than three feet of frost underneath our roads, and local governments have struggled to deal with the effect it has had on their budgets. The well-being of motorists and pedestrians across New York State depends on keeping our roads safe,” said Senator Bonacic.
The additional $40 million in funding will be added to the $438 million of funding for the Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program (CHIPS).
