Senator John Bonacic announces that the Town of Mount Hope has been awarded $100,000 in funding from the Municipal Facilities Capital Program.
“The funding was able to be secured as a result of the strong advocacy by County Legislators, Melissa Bonacic and Dennis Simmons, along with the leadership of Town Supervisor, Chad Volpe,” said Senator Bonacic.
The project calls for upgrading one of the Town buildings, known locally as the “pool building” and will include replacing the roof, securing the frame of the building, filling in the olympic-sized pool to create an indoor youth center. Expected activities include a walking and basketball area, and recreational equipment.
“We are indebted to Senator Bonacic and our local legislators for this grant,” said Mount Hope Supervisor, Chad Volpe. “It has been a long time coming to fix up this building and put it to good use for all our kids for many years to come."
“Having a place for the kids to gather and have supervised activities is such a win-win for any community, and I am so pleased to be able to provide this grant,” said Senator John Bonacic.
