Senator John Bonacic (R/C/I – Mt. Hope) announces that the Town of New Paltz has been awarded $50,000 in funding from the State & Municipal Facilities Capital Program.
The age and present conditions of the existing Town Hall have created a serious health and safety concern for staffers and visitors forcing the Supervisor and Town Board to move Town Hall offices into temporary housing. A new Town Hall is in the planning stages which will include the Courts and Police, with the possibility of an emergency operation center for Police, Fire and Rescue Squad.
“We had to move Town Hall staff to other quarters while we address the health issue with our building,” said Supervisor Susan Zimet. “The health and safety of our employees and the public is paramount. This grant comes at the perfect time to help offset costs of moving into a temporary Town hall while we plan for a permanent home that will also provide needed room for our emergency services. Thank you, Senator Bonacic, for enabling us to take care of this project. Your help could not have come at a better time for the Town taxpayers. “
“I am pleased to be able to secure these funds for the Town of New Paltz,” said Senator Bonacic. “The Town Hall building has declined over the years, and this is a project that is sorely needed for the safety of staff and visitors.”
