Senator John Flanagan (2nd Senate District) announced that his office has secured $10,000 in state funding as part of the 2014-15 State budget for the Northport-East Northport Library. The funding will help offset the cost of installing new carpeting in the children’s room of the East Northport branch of the library.
The Northport-East Northport Public Library, which will celebrate 100 years of serving the community, was ranked among the nation’s top public libraries by the Library Journal in 2013. Senator Flanagan is hopeful that the new carpeting creates a warm, comfortable place for children to learn.
"The Northport-East Northport Library serves as a center for the community and its staff does a wonderful job providing local residents with great programs and services. It is my pleasure to work with library administrators to help support their efforts in maintaining the district’s facilities,” stated Senator Flanagan.
“The Library is very grateful for the support that Senator John J. Flanagan has demonstrated over the many years he has served. Senator Flanagan’s most recent contribution to the Library was a grant to help fund new carpeting in the East Northport building’s Children’s Room. The Library looks forward to serving another generation of families and children who will give this carpeting a workout as they visit the Library to enjoy literacy and craft programs, story times, and other adventures. The Northport-East Northport Public Library wishes to express its continuing gratitude to Senator Flanagan and community we serve,” said Library Director James Olney.
