Senator John Flanagan (2nd Senate District) announced that his office has secured $10,000 in state funding for The Smithtown Library as part of the 2014-15 State budget. The funding will help offset the cost of the purchase of a new carpet cleaner for the library.
The new Tennant 1610 Dual Technology Carpet Extractor is a deep cleaning system that will protect the carpeting in the library from wear and tear. The purchase of this new machine will protect the investment of the taxpayers and the quality of the buildings, all of which recently underwent significant renovations.
“The Smithtown Library is a wonderful resource for our community and it is vital that they are able to protect the quality of the facilities that their patrons utilize. This machine will help them keep the library branches in pristine shape while saving money in both the short and long term. I am glad to help by securing the funding for this machine so that the residents of Smithtown can enjoy this community center for years to come,” stated Senator Flanagan.
“The Library appreciates Senator Flanagan's efforts in securing the funding for us to purchase the carpet and floor cleaning machine. This machine will enable the Library's maintenance staff to clean the floors professionally, protecting them from wear and tear and saving the cost of contracting with an outside service company,” said Library Director Robert Lusak.
