(East Harlem, NY) - Senator Serrano hosted a free family law legal clinic in his district office. The Urban Justice Center's Domestic Violence Project offered free one-on-one legal consultations to constituents. Individuals were encouraged to come in and meet with a legal professional about family issues such as domestic violence, child support, child custody/visitations and orders of protection.
"Many thanks to the good people at the Urban Justice Center's Domestic Violence Program for coming and providing legal assistance to those in need. My district office was transformed into a law office for the afternoon where individuals were invited to learn more about the law and how it affects and protects victims of Domestic Violence."
Serrano also hosted a program last month on Manhattan Neighborhood Network as part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Senator Serrano, along with a guest panel of experts, discussed domestic violence and educated the public about what they can do if they find themselves or someone they know in that situation.
