José M. Serrano

September 13, 2014

(New York, NY)-  Senator Serrano appeared on ABC Channel 7's "Tiempo" program, a weekly program hosted by Joe Torres that features a round-table discussion about topics affecting and relating to the Latino community. Senator Serrano, along with Senator José Peralta, discussed the current state of immigration reform and how it affects the many immigrant families living throughout New York State and ways we can address immigration issues on a National and local level.

Senator Serrano has been a staunch supporter of the rights of immigrants both in the 29th Senate District and throughout New York State. He has been at the forefront of the fight against unjust deportations that tear apart families and weaken communities, as the founder of the campaign East Harlem Against Deportation (EHAD) and is a major supporter of legislation designed to help the immigrant communities like the DREAM Act in New York State.

"It was a pleasure to join Joe Torres, along with my colleague, Senator Peralta, in a great conversation about the Dream Act, the state of immigration in our communities and the problems stemming from the lack of federal immigration reform," said Senator Serrano. "The Dream Act remains a top priority, but I will continue fight on behalf of the many other issues affecting our immigrant communities, especially the problem of unjust deportations and lack of access to services."
