(South Bronx, NY)- Senator Serrano joined volunteers at Franz Sigel Park for the annual New York Cares Day event. New York Cares Day is the largest spring cleaning event, where over 4,000 volunteers clean up parks, community gardens, and public spaces throughout the city.
"It is so great to see hundreds of volunteers spreading out across this wonderful and historic park to help maintain and beautify it's many areas," said Senator Serrano. "This event is a fun way to help clean up our parks, while getting to know other volunteers. Thanks to New York Cares, New York City Department of Parks & Recreation, The Bronx is Blooming, and all the volunteers who helped beautify our parks," concluded Serrano.
Senator Serrano has been a long time advocate for the preservation of parks. He is the Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Cultural Affairs, Tourism, Parks and Recreation and sits on the Committee for Environmental Conservation.
