(Bronx, NY) - Senator Serrano visited the winner of the New York State Senate's Earth Day Poster contest at theSacred Heart School in the Highbridge section of the Bronx. Senator Serrano presented the winning student, Amaris Vargas with a enlarged replica copy of the winning poster. Up until now the winning poster has been on display in the Senator's District Office. The presentation took place during art class in front of teachers, students and family members. This year marks the 2nd year in a row that a student from the Bronx has won the contest.
"I was so happy to meet with our 2014 New York Senate Earth Day poster contest winner, Amaris Vargas. This contest encouraged students to create original artwork that best conveyed the concepts of environmentalrespect and preservation. Congratulations Amaris, and thank you for caring so much about our environment!"
