(Albany, NY)- Senator Serrano joined New York State Senate Democratic Conference Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, colleagues and women's rights advocates at a press conference in full support for passage of Governor Andrew Cuomo's 10-point Women's Equality Act (WEA).
"Women have made some of the most important contributions to society, yet they still face the biggest discriminatory practices in the workplace" said Senator Serrano. "It is a shame that in this day and age, we are still fighting to attain equal rights. Full passage of the WEA will ensure that women earn the same as men, are not discriminated against because of their reproductive choices and are protected in the workplace. I am committed to ensuring that all 10 points of the WEA will pass this year," concluded Serrano.
Senator Serrano is a proud member of the Bipartisan Pro-Choice Legislative Caucus. He supports the "Boss Bill" (S6579A), which would ban employers from discriminating against employees on the basis of their personal reproductive health decisions.
