José M. Serrano

May 12, 2014

(Albany, NY)- Senator Serrano participated in a Senate Democratic Conference forum on hydraulic fracturing (hydrofracking) waste in New York State. The informative forum discussed the frightening health and environment side effects caused by hydrofracking. The forum also reviewed specific pieces of legislation aimed at protecting our health from the hydrofracking industry.

"Hydrofracking has been linked to contaminated groundwater, air pollution, illnesses, and death among wildlife. This practice endangers the well-being of countless New Yorkers and our environment. I stand with my colleagues in the fight against this dangerous practice," concluded Serrano.

Senator Serrano has been one of the most outspoken opponents of the dangerous practice of hydrofracking. He has actively participated in numerous press conferences and hearings to publicly voice his opposition to fracking. Serrano is one of the most environmentally friendly members of the New York Senate. In 2013, he was ranked one of the highest among State Senators on the annual EPL/Environmental Advocates Scorecard.
