(Albany, NY)- Senator Serrano met with representatives from the United Federation of Teachers (UFT) to discuss issues faced by teachers across New York State. The productive conversation touched on concerns about art and music curriculum, as well as Universal Pre-K (UPK).
"As the Ranking Member on the Senate Committee on Cultural Affairs, Tourism, Parks & Recreation, I am deeply invested in the well-being of the arts in our state," said Senator Serrano. "I believe a strong introduction to the arts in schools is essential. We must nurture the creativity of our youth, so that they can carry on the tradition of our culturally rich city and state. New York's future generation of noteworthy artists and musicians need the proper programs in their schools," concluded Senator Serrano.
