(Central Park, NY)- Senator Serrano marched with hundreds of 32BJ SEIU union members to demand fair wages and safer working conditions. The march was organized to call attention to the ongoing contract negotiations between 32BJ SEIU and the Realty Advisory Board. The union represents 30,000 doormen, porters, handypersons and supers in 3,300 buildings in New York City.
"I am proud to stand with the hard working, dedicated members of 32BJ in demanding the fair wages and safe working conditions they deserve," said Senator Serrano. "The 30,000 members of this union are an integral part of New York City. They are the devoted, diligent and courteous individuals who make our daily lives a little smoother. It is important that we return the appreciation and protect their rights," concluded Senator Serrano.
The march began with a rally at the 79th street entrance of Central Park, where the Senator and other elected officials addressed the large crowd before leading the march from Central Park over to Park Avenue.
