Kew Gardens, NY (April 17, 2014) – State Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. wants to lend a helping hand to the growing senior community and seniors who are looking to work. The Senator is hosting a Job Fair for those 50 years old and over.
“Finding a job today is not the easiest task for most people and even harder for seniors who want to work. It’s important to provide the necessary resources to my constituents to help them in the process.” Senator Addabbo said. “Some people have lived full lives and now find themselves back at square one. It’s not uncommon given the cost of living in the city that more and more seniors are looking for employment.”
Selective companies catering to an older demographic were chosen to participate and can help those over 50 get back on the path to employment. Representatives from Family Aides Inc., the New York State Department of Labor, the YWCA City of New York Women’s Empowerment Program, the Joseph P. Addabbo Family Health Center and several more will be present to detail their companies’ missions and help attendees find the full time and part time work they need.
The 50+ Job Fair will be held Friday, May 30 at the Queens Community House in Kew Gardens, 80-02 Kew Gardens Road, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Looking ahead, Senator Addabbo’s Annual Job Fair for all ages with about 100 vendors and possible employers is set for Friday, September 19 at the new YMCA in Arverne by the Sea, 207 Beach 73rd Street, also from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
