NEW HARTFORD – Is your home filled with old computers you always meant to recycle but never did? Do you have a bunch of documents with personal information that need a good shredding? Are you still storing medication from that one time you got sick years ago?
Bring your junk to the New Hartford Shopping Center, 120 Genesee St. between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday and we’ll make sure it’s recycled or disposed of properly.
Sen. Joseph A. Griffo is sponsoring the free event, with assistance from Time Warner Cable, Confidata, Sunnking and the New Hartford Police Department.
“Although you may not know it by looking at the thermometer, spring is here,” said Griffo. “This is a perfect opportunity to rid your house of some of the accumulated clutter. The services we offer are free and anonymous, no questions asked.”
Steve Makowski, Time Warner Cable’s area vice president for operations, added: “We are happy to partner with Senator Griffo again to offer the Central New York community a place to safely dispose of unwanted electronics.”
Sunnking will be accepting computers, TV sets, electronics and small appliances. Visit sunnking.com for a full list of acceptable items. Confidata will accept up to five boxes per car of paper documents for shredding. The New Hartford Police will collect old, unused and expired medications, no questions asked.
This is Griffo’s third year sponsoring a drop-off event. The next free collection will be in October, with a specific date and location in Oneida County to be determined.
