September 15, 2014
Brooklyn – State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) today is providing information regarding the Immigrant Restitution Fund established by the New York State Attorney General to compensate individuals who were defrauded by two of the nation’s largest immigration services organizations – the International Immigrants Foundation, Inc (IIF) and the International Professional Association Inc., (IPA).
Senator Golden has been contacted by the New York Legal Assistance Group to help increase awareness of the claim form deadline of Thursday, October 23, 2014. The forms, available in both English and Spanish, can be submitted online or via regular mail, and can be found at http://nylag.org/ipa.
“This is a nation that has long stood to welcome and assist those who journey to America for a better life. Now, we stand with those who have been defrauded through false promises and exorbitant fees to help them recover lost funds, and return to the road of citizenship,” said Senator Marty Golden.
Only individuals who paid either IIF/IPA for immigration related legal services are eligible for reimbursement from the $2.2 million fund. For more information, please contact the New York Legal Assistance Group at (212) 514-4265.
