In his remarks to the members, Senator Golden stated, “There can be no progress in this State at the expense of your jobs and without protecting your pensions and benefits. There can be no progress if it hurts the people who are truly the backbone of New York State services. Because you are the people who are some of the best educators of our children in the country. You are the dedicated professionals who keep our streets safe, who keep our streets clean, and who have helped to make New York the greatest state in the country in which to live, work and raise a family.”
Golden, later in his speech addressing the 9/11 legacy credit bill stated, “I count this legislation among one of my great legislative accomplishments, a practical way to take care of people who took care of us in our darkest hour. If we had not worked together, this bill would have never become a reality.”
Senator Golden encouraged the many unions represented to talk with legislators today in Albany on behalf of their members, expressing union goals for this legislative session. “Remind them of all the good work that you do,” said Senator Golden.
