Senator Golden to Host Celebration of Asian Pacific Heritage Month

Brooklyn- State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) today is announcing that he will be hosting his 12th Annual Asian Pacific Heritage Festival in the playground at Public School 176 located at the corner of Bay Ridge Avenue and 12th Avenue, on Sunday, May 4 2014, from 12pm to 5pm. State Senator Golden is inviting the community to join in this special event held of Asian American Heritage which is the month of May.

 

The event will feature ethnic dances including the Chinese Lion Dance, a Kung Fu demonstration, and performances of Korean, Malaysian, Burmese and Chinese dance. A wide array of ethnic food, painting, arts and crafts and prizes will be part of the celebration.

 

This year, the event will also highlight Korean Cultural and Art, Malaysian Tourism, Chinese calligraphy, painting and flour dough art. Senator Marty Golden will present distinguished citizen awards to Mr. Timmy Moy and Ms. Vicky Cheuk.

Senator Marty Golden stated, "Each year, we celebrate the month of May as Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month and we celebrate the achievements and the success of this culture. Millions of Americans trace their origins to nations in the Asian/Pacific region and they enrich Brooklyn, New York and our Nation. I look forward to hosting this annual event that recognizes the many important contributions that Asian/Pacific Americans have made to our community."

 

Co-sponsors of the celebration includes the United States Better Chinatown Association, the Chinese American Partnership, McDonald Fast Food, Zhang Yuan Kung Fu Master, Fiona Music Academy, Art Plaza, Jenny Ma Dance, Zhao Xia Dance, Sunset Dance, Wen’s Zither Camille Cantonese Opera, New Utrecht High School, Bay Ridge Sushi, Dragon China, Park Asia, Homecrest Community Service, Maimonides Hospital, Methodist Hospital Asian Service Center, Manning Pharmacy, and the Brooklyn Arch Association.
