Brooklyn – State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn), Chairman of the State Senate Civil Service and Pensions Committee and member of the Veteran and Military Affairs Committee, today has issued the following statement following Governor Andrew Cuomo’s veto of legislation he co-sponsored, S. 7839/A. 6974, that would amend the New York State Military Service Credit Law to authorize state and municipal pension credits for peacetime military service.
“ As today we mark our Nation’s remembrance of Veteran’s Day, I can assure you that my colleague in the New York State Legislature want to work with Governor Cuomo to resolve any differences on this issue so that we can give our veterans such an opportunity. Our veterans deserve to get the credit for their service, and I know that if everyone works together, we can get this done here in New York.
“I pledge, on behalf of all the veterans in my district and across this Empire State, to keep this issue on the agenda as a priority. Our appreciation for their service is unwavering.”
