Senator Golden Votes to Protect Young Children From Being Left Unattended in a Motor Vehicle

Albany – State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) has issued the following statement after his vote this afternoon to support legislation (S. 306), sponsored by Senator Jack Martins (R-Mineola), that would create a penalty for endangering the welfare of a child in circumstances where a child is left unattended in a motor vehicle:

“In this day and age, it is just too dangerous for parents to leave young children unattended in a car for both health and safety reasons. Even just a minute or two can place a child in danger, and this practice within our society must end. That is why today, I joined with my colleagues to approve legislation that would help to reduce the number of such incidents throughout New York State. I urge my colleagues in the State Assembly to join the State Senate in passing this legislation which will save lives and prevent injuries.”

The bill was sent to the Assembly.
