Continuing his commemoration of March as Women’s History Month, State
Senator Mike Nozzolio is urging visitors to see an exhibit on display at
the State Capitol which honors the many important achievements of women
throughout New York State history, including the founders of the Women’s
Rights movement that began right here in the Finger Lakes region.
“As the State Senator representing Seneca Falls, the birthplace of Women’s
Rights and home of the National Women’s Hall of Fame, I am pleased that the
lives of the many extraordinary women who have shaped our State and Nation
will enjoy a special place of honor in our Capitol,” said Senator Mike
Nozzolio. “From Susan B. Anthony to Elizabeth Cady Stanton to Harriet
Tubman, these women played an important role in women's history.
The “Historic Women of Distinction Exhibit,” celebrates the central role
that women from New York played in changing the course of history, starting
in 1848 when the first Women’s Rights convention was held in Seneca Falls,
to the present day. The exhibit includes women like Susan B. Anthony and
Elizabeth Cady Stanton, two individuals who led the effort to give women
the right to vote, as well as Harriet Tubman, best known for her role in
the abolitionist movement.
“March is recognized as Women’s History Month in New York State and it is
important that we pay tribute to the remarkable women who have helped shape
our history. This exhibit is an outstanding tribute to women, past and
present, who are guiding our State to a brighter future,” concluded Senator
Mike Nozzolio.
The exhibit is currently on display in the Legislative Office Building in Albany. The exhibit can also be viewed online through Senator Nozzolio's website at www.SenatorNozzolio.com.
