State Senator Mike Nozzolio is encouraging local servicemen and women to apply for a State program that gives recognition to our valued veterans who served our Nation during the Cold War.
“It has long been my belief that there is no greater debt of honor than that which every American citizen owes to the individuals who selflessly served our Nation during times of need,” said Senator Nozzolio. “The courage, preparedness and dedication of these brave servicemen and women was crucial in keeping our Nation safe and secure during the Cold War, and I am pleased that this important recognition is available to those who served during this challenging time.”
The program offers Cold War Recognition Certificates from the New York State Division of Military and Naval Affairs to any New York State resident who served in the military and was honorably discharged between the end of the Second World War and the breakup of the Soviet Union. Applicants must certify that they were honorably discharged by providing a supporting document such as a DD 214, NGB Form 22, or WD AGO Form 53-55.
To apply for a certificate or to learn more about this important recognition, please call 518-591-5296 or visit http://dmna.ny.gov/awards For further information or assistance, please contact Senator Mike Nozzolio's office toll free at 1-888-568-9816.
