Ritchie Secures $50,000 to Assist Village of Adams With Sidewalk Improvement Efforts

State Senator Patty Ritchie has announced she has secured $50,000 to help the Village of Adams increase accessibility and improve transportation for pedestrians by rehabilitating and extending its sidewalks.

“One of the keys to any successful community is a transportation network that’s both safe and extensive; providing pedestrians with an easy way to get to their destination, while also increasing foot traffic to local businesses,” said Senator Ritchie.

“I’m pleased to be able to provide this funding to the Village of Adams, which will enable the municipality to make the upgrades necessary to make walking safer and easier for pedestrians.”

“Whether it’s traveling to school or getting to a local business, it’s crucial to have sidewalks that are both safe and accessible for the people of our community,” said Village of Adams Mayor Philip Chatterton.  “We’ve made a number of improvements in the Village recently, and thank Senator Ritchie for helping us to continue our efforts to better the quality of life for local residents.”

This recent funding helps to continue Senator Ritchie’s efforts to improve infrastructure in the Village of Adams.  Recently, the Village received more than $34,000 in CHIPS (Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program) funding, as well as nearly $4,000 in extra aid to help its highway department, which along with other highway departments across the state, had its budget affected by this past winter’s severe weather.
