On Tuesday, May 13th, Senator Phil Boyle honored Andrea Curran of West Islip at the New York State Senate’s 17th Annual Women of Distinction celebration in Albany. The Women of Distinction event is a time to honor outstanding women whose contributions have enriched the quality of life in communities across New York State.
This year’s award recipient, Andrea Curran, served as the manager of the grass roots hurricane relief effort in Lindenhurst known as Camp Bulldog. Camp Bulldog is widely recognized as one of the most successful and long running post-Sandy recovery groups.
This volunteer relief effort that Mrs. Curran helped lead was located at Shore Road Park in Lindenhurst, and provided food, cleaning supplies, information, counseling and legal services to thousands of local victims.
“The support and comfort Mrs. Curran provided to the Lindenhurst community, one of the hardest hit areas, cannot be compared,” said Senator Phil Boyle. “Mrs. Andrea Curran is well deserved of the honor of the Women of Distinction Award for 2014.”
