Tuesday, August 5, 2014 – Bay Shore, NY - With conflicting reports over several months on how many beds are vacant, how many children are still on a waiting lists and inconsistent information over several departments closing within Sagamore, Senators are hosting a forum to elicit answers on the future of Sagamore Children’s Psychiatric Center in Dix Hills.
The Long Island Senate Delegation, along with the Office of Mental Health and representatives from Sagamore, are coming together to discuss all pending issues, answer any questions and come up with a comprehensive solution to keep every bed open at Sagamore.

Sagamore Children’s Psychiatric Center is the only state-run children’s mental health facility on Long Island and it is critical that it remains open so that parents have easier accessibility to their children who are receiving services. If closed, the closest facility would be in Queens or the Bronx.
