The War Against Women and Who is Causing It?
You should know that there are a lot of people who keep themselves busy talking about something they call the "War Against Women," pointing to incidents when people target, use, exploit, neglect and abuse women for their own benefit.
You should also know that there are those who like to accuse you of wrong-doing, when it is the accuser who is the actual perpetrator. When they accuse you of being intolerant, you can be sure that they are the ones who are intolerant. When they accuse you of not giving others opportunities to advance, you can be sure that they are the ones who refuse to give others opportunities to succeed.
The same thing is true for those involved with the so-called "War Against Women." There are many people who continue to scream their lungs out, and blame and accuse others of exploiting women and using women for their own benefit. It seems to me that the accusers are the same ones who are oppressing, disrespecting, exploiting and using women for their own advancement.
It is important for you to know that there is a powerful 2-page article (pages 18-19) written by Annie Karni in the Sunday, August 24, 2014 edition of the New York Daily News titled: "SHE KEEPS ON SAILING, Zephyr unfazed by Working Families snub in long shot bid to beat Andy."
The article tells the story about how not too long ago, there was a rather unknown woman named Zephyr Teachout who was an assistant professor at Fordham University's School of Law. The story goes on to tell how the powerful leader of New York's Working Families Party had a fight with Governor Andrew Cuomo, and the Working Families Party was so mad that they decided to prepare a candidate to run against Governor Andrew Cuomo in the November 2014 general election.
In their search, they set their eyes on Zephyr Teachout. According to Ms. Karni's article: "It was a secret project by operatives for the state’s Working Families Party. Over the course of a month last spring, they assembled every day at the party’s office in Brooklyn to give a little-known law school professor named Zephyr Teachout a crash course in how to be a politician."
Finally, Zephyr Teachout was ready to come to the WFP convention and accept the challenge to run against Governor Andrew Cuomo ... but surprise, surprise: little did Zephyr Teachout know how she had been used and exploited by the Working Families Party! She had worked very hard and went to the convention certain that she would be the party's nominee to run against Governor Andrew Cuomo. That's what they had promised Zephyr Teachout, but at the last minute, the woman was cast aside and left out in the cold - dissed and dismissed. After all of the promises to a woman, they abandoned the woman and endorsed Governor Andrew Cuomo.
You should know that Zephyr Teachout seems to be a very determined woman. Little did they know that the woman they used and tricked was a real fighter who kept moving forward. She collected enough signatures to get on the Democratic Party's primary ballot and stood strong against legal challenges. In doing so, she actually exposed those who are entrenched in their own War Against Women.
After Zephyr Teachout collected more than 45,000 signatures, Governor Andrew Cuomo used his millions, his lawyers and his power to try to disqualify her and get her off the ballot.
Daily News reporter Annie Karni interviewed Zephyr Teachout about Governor Andrew Cuomo's efforts to eliminate her from the Democratic Primary. Zephyr Teachout stated: “When he tries to kick me out, my feeling is, what is this old boys club afraid of?”
You should know that Governor Andrew Cuomo demonstrated his role in the "War Against Women" when he went to the Board of Elections and to the Courts after Zephyr Teachout appealed, to get that woman off the ballot. That woman has had war declared against her three times: once by the Working Families Party and twice by Governor Andrew Cuomo.
There is a saying that actions speak louder than words. So for now, my dear reader, please pay attention to those who claim to be the defenders of women and you will find that they really are the ones fomenting the War Against Women.
And now you know the rest of the story - and who is the real culprit.
This is Senator Rev. Rubén Díaz, and this is what you should know.
