FOLLOWING NEWEST MORELAND DOCUMENTS, SENATOR GIPSON PUSHES ETHICS LEGISLATION

ALBANY, NY – New York State Senator Terry Gipson (D-Dutchess, Putnam) issued the following statement on the recently released Moreland Commission documents on campaign expenditures in New York State. Senator Gipson has introduced legislation, S.7184, which would further delineate how campaign funds may be expended and do more than current law to define specific expenditures that would be outlawed.

“The absurd expenditures revealed by the Moreland Commission documents regarding the misuse of campaign funds are further proof that more must be done to clean up Albany and earn the public’s trust.

“I urge the Senate Majority Coalition to pass my legislation that would prevent politicians from using their campaign accounts as personal ATMs.”
