Senator Gipson Announces Dutchess & Putnam Parks & Historic Sites to Receive NY Works Funding

SENATOR GIPSON ANNOUNCES DUTCHESS & PUTNAM PARKS & HISTORIC SITES TO RECEIVE NY WORKS FUNDING

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – New York State Senator Terry Gipson (D-Dutchess, Putnam), member of the New York State Senate Cultural Affairs, Tourism, Parks and Recreation Committee, announced that James Baird State Park, Mills-Norrie State Park and Staatsburgh State Historic Site in Dutchess County, and Fahnestock State Park in Putnam County will receive funding as part of the New York Works program.

“Tourism is a major economic driver and job creator in the Hudson Valley region,” said Senator Gipson. “I’m proud to have supported the $90 million in funding for this program in the 2014-15 State Budget, and that part of this investment will be coming to Duchess and Putnam counties.”

James Baird State Park will receive $400,000 for park drinking water system improvements and $670,000 to install a golf course irrigation system to improve playing conditions. Mills-Norrie State Park will receive $250,000 for historic preservation improvements to the Hoyt House. The Staatsburgh State Historic Site will receive $100,000 for upgrades to the basement electrical system. Fahnestock State Park will receive $500,000 for improvements to the Canopus Lake Welcome Center.
